FLAMMABLE AND COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID
UNDERGROUND AND ABOVEGROUND FUEL TANK INSTALLATIONS,
REMOVALS, UPGRADES, REPAIRS OR TESTING

Permits:

A permit is required to install, upgrade, repair or remove a flammable/combustible liquid fuel tank system.

To Obtain A Permit:

A registered contractor must submit a site plan (showing the tank location in relation to building and property lines) and a copy of the construction notification that was submitted to TNRCC (Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission – the state agency that regulates USTs and ASTs).

Aboveground tanks that are used to store fuel for dispensing into motor vehicles must be protected tanks and must be listed and labeled to indicate that they have been tested by a recognized testing laboratory to meet the requirements (U.L. 2085).

A separate permit for the slab for an aboveground tank is required from the Development Department (Building Department).

All flammable/combustible liquid contractors must be registered with the Fort Worth Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau.

When requesting an inspection, 48 hours’ notice is required.
